Greetings in the Name of the Jesus.

I’m Wil Robinson.

For as long as I remember I’ve believed in Jesus. The older I become, the more centered upon Him I become. Jesus is LORD and Messiah, Who is forming me into a fully alive person. I pray LORD open your eyes and heart that you might find yourself in Him, feel His love, and to love Him in return.

To many I am Terry, the nickname given by my parents. Wil, derived from my middle name, William, I gave myself. In the military I was called Robi, as was my father and his father before him. In the Peace Corps, serving in Southeastern Nigeria I was Obie, which means heart.

While I was born on a ranch in California, I lived in several other American States while growing up including Georgia, Kentucky, and Kansas. As a child I lived for a time in Wales, and as an adult in Wales, Israel, Sri Lanka, India, and Nigeria.

In the mid-1980s travel thrust itself upon me, taking me many places overseas including Israel, Wales, Mexico, most European countries as well as West Africa, Sri Lanka, and India

Attending college on and off for nearly twenty years taking various classes, I finally settled down at Humboldt State University to earn a BA in journalism with minors in English and International Relations, with emphasis on the Middle East.

After college, I was blessed to work for two years in the Peace Corps as a Health Information Specialist in three cities in Nigeria: Enugu in the Southeast; Jos, in the highland State of Plateau, and in Kaduna. I remained in Nigeria, for another two-and-a-half years working as a Program Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Specialist with AID, and living on Victory Island, Lagos. My experiences in Nigeria were incredible, enabling me to travel a beautiful country and meet wonderful people.

During my life I’ve been a like a Jack-of-All Trades: Truck Driver; Infantryman; Armament Systems Technician; Communications Technician; Journalist; Photojournalist; Photographer; Pastor; Peace Corps volunteer; Health Information Specialist; Health Information Reporter; Inner-City Middle School Teacher; Technical Support Manager; Technical Trainer, Investor.

I’ve been around water most of my life. The picture is me at the mast of my 25-foot Cape Dory sailboat.

GOD used various interests, travel experiences, and career tracks to form me into the person I am today: A person who has made a lot of mistakes, been forgiven by the Grace of GOD, and enabled to share some of them through this blog.

My interests include Bible study, amateur radio, sailing, hunting, fishing, camping, cigars and pipes, reading, writing, and whittling.

    God bless you for you love and good sharing. We are moving forward in sharing the word of the Lord and all here appreciating all that you are sharing and that gives good foundation and true faith of Christ Jesus in our lives. Continue the good work and may the Lord will reward you all that you are sharing and giving hope to the poor one around the world. One day praying that He will open ways and bring here in Kenya to share with us His word.

  4. Sorry Wil in my comment to you on Millions I called you Jonah thinking it was your Christian Name, what Name do you prefer to be called? Wil or Terry? I will call you Wil but please correct me if you would rather be called Terry.

    I enjoyed reading about your life Wil which I missed the first time I visited your Blog but I was wondering why you are no longer a Pastor, you do indeed have a wonderful focus that I’m sure many would be blessed by. I know I would be encouraged and uplifted to be under your Leadership. What you shared below shows a very Loving Heart both for God and others.

    1. No need to apologize; call me anything, just don’t call me late to dinner. Seriously, though, Wil’s good. Thank you, Anne, for your encouragement and kind words.

      I suppose once a pastor always a pastor. Some pastors serve a congregation that sits in seats or pews in a specific location. For a time, while on the road driving truck, my ministry was to truckers across America to whom I came into contact. This form of ministry carries on the tradition of the itinerant preacher seen throughout the west in the late 1800s. In the electronic age, church can be attended by folks from all over the world, though the internet. This doesn’t negate the necessity of a local fellowship. It’s just another form of ministry. Until you asked, I’d not really given thought to the notion of a “virtual” pastor, preaching through blogs.

      As the Lord directs, if I am courageous enough to accept, there may be other itinerant pastor journeys in my future.

      I like the way you put it; the older we become, the more centered upon Him we become, we are formed into fully alive people. The process never ends while we are on Earth. One day, soon perhaps, we shall be face to face with our Lord at a Great Feast. As John revealed, we conquer the world “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives in the face of death.” Rev. 12:11.

    I stumbled across this website by accident looking for something completely unrelated and had to do a double take at the pictures and information. Your biography was quite a long list of accomplishments and amazing travels. I glad you have been able to minister in so many countries and that you continue to take pictures. I can’t tell exactly what JonahzSong is all about but i wish you well in the ministry God has placed you in. My husband and I head up a non-profit also named Embrace and Reach International which is the website info I left below if you are interested to check it out. As a non-profit we are still in the beginning phases, however we have been involved in missions and directing missions outreach teams for our entire married life. I am blessed to know you have found your full calling and are continuing to grow in your relationship with Jesus. God’s blessing’s on you and on the ministry of JonahsSong.

    1. Hey Elisabeth,
      It’s wonderful to here from you. I’ve thought about y’all a lot over the last–too many–years. I’m not surprised that you found me “by accident.” G-d works in strange ways. . . as Mom said often. I’ve visited your website, followed some of your adventures with Jun while you were with other ministries doing medical missions to Philippines, and marveled at the work G-d has been doing in your lives. Two wonderful, handsome boys, too. I’ve never known quite what to say to you–so never wrote.

      JonahzSong is a take off from Steve-O calling me Jonah when I ran away so very many years ago. I’ve been running ever since. It’s a blog. Before I went back to driving truck, I didn’t want to tell Dad, so told him I was getting back into writing, which has been a live-long dream. I didn’t know what kind of writing I was going to do, but the Lord got me into writing devotions for distribution by a ministry out of Australia. When that ran out, I started a blog on Blogger to continue the writing. I moved most of the content to WordPress a few years ago. It’s not strictly devotions, however. It’s a bit of memoirs, articles, devotions, and lately responses to one-word writing prompts in which I find inspiration to draw the conclusion–and hopefully the reader–toward Y’shuaJesus.

      Indeed, I do continue to grow in the Lord, thanks be to Him Who’s Arm of Mercy restrains His Arm of Justice. As far as my full calling, perhaps one day, Lord Willin’. I feel there is more to come. I always thought I had plenty of time, but recently discovered that I’m grown up, actually old. It was a terrible discovery. Nonetheless, I’m not used up, and think in my mind and heart I’ve got more miles left in me if the Lord still wants me. I suppose I should have grown up many years ago. . . alas, G-d is Great, and hasn’t held it against me.

      Oh, I take very few photographs (very long story) but it’s on my list of things to restore to my life as the Lord allows. Recently I was able to rescue and scan some of the old negatives and slides from way back when. I plan to post them in a photo section in JonahzSong.

      I’ve often wondered if you still sing and play the guitar. I can still hear your voice as it echoes in my head from those early days at Steve’s and Laureen’s and Calvary Chapel Susanville.

      I will pray for Embrace and Reach International, as I continue to remember you, Jun, and your boys to to Lord. Consider a blog of your own to share the work of Embrace and Reach. Social Media is quite the thing these days for reaching people.

    1. Hey Dolly. Nice meeting you too. Cassandra is a 25 foot Cape Dory. I’ve sailed Lake Lanier for the past seven or so years since procuring her. I’m hoping to have her transported to Savannah, GA, and launched into salt water the end of March. She’s been in fresh water her entire life–built in 1976. One of the three previous owners planned a trip to Bermuda, but never quite got to it.

      You’ve quite the display of mouth-watering dishes on your site.

      Where do you sail? Do you do long weekend’s aboard?

      1. Cape Dory is a nice one! We sail up and down Biscayne Bay, mainly to the Keys. We’ve done quite a few long weekends aboard, and love it – never want to come back ashore. Right now she is being hauled and the main sail needs to be replaced after the hurricane. If all goes well, we’ll probably start again in May. We love Savannah, it’s a beautiful city with rich history and culture, but beware – her bottom will grow a beard! She’ll need to be hauled regularly, just like ours. Also, beware of high humidity, mold and mildew issues. Being in Georgia, you probably know all that, but its’ different from fresh water to salt.

      2. You’re in a great area for sailing–and year round too. Even here on the lake in northern Georgia, it’s not so bad in winter–at least when the sun shines, which is most of the time. Thanks for the warning about the beard. Cassandra hasn’t been hauled in at least ten years, which is the great thing about lakes. The mold, humidity, et cetera, is an issue here too. As are the mud wasps. My thoughts are to hand around Savannah a month or so then head north to Maine for the summer, then perhaps the keys for the winter. My thoughts, any way. We’ll see.       3. A great place down here for winter people is called No-Name Harbor. Easy access to the keys, all the amenities, nice restaurant and a park. Most importantly, it is secluded and safe in case of serious weather. We don’t have mud wasps but we have no-seeums! Many blessings to you and fair wind in your sails!

      4. Thanks for the tip on No-Name Harbor. I looked it up and it got mostly rave reviews on Cruisers’ Net. I wouldn’t be able to stay long–any thing I have to pay for is too expensive. But for a couple nights to avoid a storm, or get a meal in a restaurant, or to restock it would be a great place to stay.

        Unfortunately, we have no-seeums here too. I’ve got a lot of work to do on Cassandra, including hatch screens. One previous owner used velcro attached screens, which may have worked well.

      5. You don’t have to pay at No-Name Harbor. Theoretically, it’s a $2/night charge, but nobody collects it, although there is a box for voluntary contributions. It’s at the very tip of Key Biscayne. Yeah, we are doing a lot of work on The Scarlet Sails as well…
